16th annual Turkey Trot scheduled for Nov. 28

The YMCA of Lincoln will host the 16th annual Turkey Trot on November 28 at the Railyard in downtown Lincoln.

Participants can choose between a 5K race or a fun 1.6K run/walk. Registration is now open through Nov. 27, but last-minute registrations will be accepted until Thanksgiving morning, the YMCA said in a news release.

It costs $20 per person for the fun run, $35 per person for the 5K, or $72 for a family of up to five members to participate in the fun run in person or virtually.

Participants who register by Nov. 24 will receive a Turkey Trot T-shirt, the release said. From November 28 at 7.45am, a free Tot Trot will also be offered to young people aged five and under.

“This event goes beyond community celebration – it highlights the core of our mission,” said Renee Yost, president and CEO of the Lincoln YMCA. “Proceeds directly support our Open Doors Financial Assistance program, making it possible for more youth, families and seniors to access the life-changing opportunities and services the Y provides.”
