Tragedy involving prominent Nigerian politician shot dead in Abeokuta, details emerge

Abeokuta, Ogun State – Unknown gunmen suspected of being members of a secret cult have killed Hon. Mutiu Akinbami, popularly called Igor.

How Ogun ex-councillor Akinbami was killed

The victim, said to be a disabled man, was killed while riding a motorcycle in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Friday evening, November 15.

Akinbami, who had lost his left leg years ago and used an iron bar for mobility, was attacked near the Brewery Bus Stop and Olomoor Junction at around 6.13pm. He was accompanied by his daughter at the time of the attack.

His attackers, probably sect members, are said to have driven a tinted vehicle Toyota Hilux with unknown license plate.

Eyewitnesses, including members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who were at the scene, revealed that the attackers had tracked Akinbami from his residence in the Olomoore Federal Housing Estate before carrying out the attack. They fled after the attack.
