Davina’s statement

Before her procedure, Davina recorded a video explaining details of how she found out about her shock tumor.

“Hi, so I’m posting this, it’ll be Friday morning and I’m doing it because I did a menopause talk for a company a few months ago and in return they offered me a health scan which I thought I was going to do But it Turns out I had a benign brain tumor called a colloidal cyst, which is very rare, three in a million.

“I buried my head in the sand for a while. I saw quite a few neurosurgeons. I got a lot of opinions and I realized I had to have it taken out. It’s big for the space, it fills the space. It’s 14mm wide, and it must come out, because if it grows it will be bad.

“So I’m having it removed via a craniotomy through the top of my head here, and through the two halves of my brain, through the middle, retrieve the cyst, drain it, take it out, ‘Bob is your uncle.’

She continued: “So say a prayer for me. I’m in a good mood,” before her partner Michael intervened and said: “I’ve got my eye on her!” and joked about doing the surgery himself.

Davina added: “I’m doing well, it’s been up and down to be honest, we’ve been through a lot.” Michael kept his spirits up and joked that Davina’s “job will be safe” as the scar will be along her natural parting.

Speaking about her recovery, Davina said: “I’ll be in hospital for about nine days and then I’ll go home, but I’ll be off my phone for a while. So Michael can tell you and let you know how I’m doing. But I don’t want you to worry about me.

“I’m not too worried, I’m in a good space. I have all the confidence in the world in my surgeon and his team and I’m handing the reins over to him, he knows what he’s doing, I’m going to to do better. I’ll see you on the other side.”
