Bizarre! Gujarat man declared dead appears at his own memorial service

Call it bizarre or shocking, a man in Gujarat – presumed dead and mourned by his family – walked into his memorial service, reported India today.

According to the report, the man has been identified as 43-year-old Brijesh Suthar from Mehsana district, who turned up alive after being presumed dead.

Brijesh Suttar, also known as Pintu, was reportedly struggling with mental health issues and financial stress related to his stock market activities. Suddenly on October 27, he disappeared from his hometown in the Naroda of Ahmedabad. The family searched for him for days and then filed a missing report with the Naroda police.

Police discovered an unidentified decomposed body near Sabarmati Bridge on November 10 and called the Suthar family for identification. Brijesh’s brother-in-law and other family members mistakenly identified it as Brijesh based on the body’s conformation.

After this, on November 14, the fAmily performed the last rites and organized a memorial service in Vijapur.

Brijesh appears again:

While family members and friends gathered to mourn, Brijesh unexpectedly walked into the ceremony alive and well.

Brijesh’s return puzzled both the family and the police.

“When Brijesh did not return home, we searched everywhere and filed a complaint with the police,” IT quoted his mother as saying. “Later, the police showed us a body, and due to its swollen condition, we wrongly identified it as Brijesh.”

Police even confirmed that the unidentified body was found as an unclaimed corpse and underwent a post-mortem examination before being handed over to the Suthar family.

Meanwhile, Naroda police have reopened investigation into the body wrongly identified as that of Brijesh.

Earlier, a 44-year-old professor from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, named Mainak Pal, was found dead in a hotel room in Uttarakhand with his throat and hand slit. According to multiple reports, police are considering the possibility that it was a suicide.
