The organization’s Max May said the sector needs to connect young people with the idea of ​​a career in the arts.

He said there had been a decline in the number of students taking arts subjects at GCSEs and that young people wanted to know if studying arts subjects would help them secure a future.

“There is a very strong pedigree of children and young people in the region doing great things. We just have to make sure they are aware of it.”

He said they would be hosting events at schools throughout the area.

Hull Truck Theater chairman Beckie Hart said by supporting young people to explore creative careers “we are nurturing our future generation of artists”.

May added: “There are plenty of opportunities for young people in the region to achieve huge success, but we need to champion them more.”
