Democrats consider rebranding after Trump’s victory and want to avoid party’s ‘freak show’ label: report

Some Democrats are pushing for the party to move closer to the center, according to a new report President-elect Trump won swing states across the country and even won the popular vote.

“The progressive wing of the party must recognize – we all must recognize – that the country is not progressive, neither far left nor far right. They are in the middle,” Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Joseph Paolino. jr. told Politico. Another Democrat told the newspaper, “I don’t want to be the freak show party.”

“I’m going to look for a chair who is going to talk to the center and who at the end of the day is going to be the guy driving a truck home,” Paolino said.

A DNC member from Florida told Politico that the Democratic Party suffer from being portrayed as radicals by conservatives.

“I don’t want to be the freak show party that they’ve branded us as,” the DNC member said. “You know, when you’re a mother with three kids, living in Central America and you’re just not really into politics, and you see these ads that scare the hell out of you, you think, ‘I that Trump is weird or whatever, but I’d rather his weirdness not affect my kids.’”

“This is essentially a rebuilding job from the bottom up,” said former DNC Chair Donna Brazile.

Two sources in the DNC Network previously told Fox News that one of the leading candidates considering a run for DNC chairmanship is Rahm Emanuel, the U.S. ambassador to Japan and a longtime political activist. Emanuel has reportedly quietly reached out to DNC committee members as he considers a bid to succeed the current chairman, Jaime Harrison, whose term expires early next year. It is unlikely that Harrison will seek a second four-year post after last week’s very disappointing situation election results for the Democrats, up and down the ballot.

“I really think there’s a sense that we’ve just gone too far on identity, and it’s allowed Republicans to really attack us at any time, and that essentially we’re not just focusing on everyday issues of Americans focused. ,” a DNC member from California told Politico on condition of anonymity.

“I’m not interested in anyone moving further away from the center,” Cindy Bass, a committee member from Pennsylvania, emphasized that the future of the Democratic Party is moving away from far-left politics. “The center is where we need to be.”
