One dead and one injured in Lakewood Heights shooting, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – One man died and another was injured after an overnight shooting in Lakewood Heights, according to Atlanta police.

Around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to Little Bear Food Mart off Jonesboro Road SE, where they found a 45-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died, police said.

Not long after, officers were called to a home near Lakewood Terrace SE, less than a mile from the food market. They found a 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his leg and torso, who was also taken to the hospital.

Police believe the two men were injured in the same incident, but the circumstances of that incident remain unclear. The shooting is under investigation.
