Appleton man suffers life-threatening injuries in single-vehicle crash

TOWN OF ELLINGTON, Wis. (WBAY) – The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning that sent one person to the hospital according to a news release.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of ​​State Highway 76 and Immel Road in the town of Ellington, following automatic detection in the vehicle.

Following an investigation by the Ellington First Responders Investigation, a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Appleton man was traveling north on State Highway 76 when it failed to negotiate a curve near Immel Road and struck a culvert causing the vehicle to spin several times roll.

The driver of the car was trapped in the car and had to be freed. He was later transported to a local hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The roadway was closed for about three hours and has since reopened.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the City of Ellington First Responders, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
