Man involved in accident on highway. 60 dies after being hit by semi

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – A Scott City, Missouri, man involved in a serious crash early Saturday morning later died after being struck by an oncoming semi-truck while in the roadway.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the first crash occurred on Highway 60, just 2 miles west of Fisk, around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Two vehicles were traveling eastbound when the first car struck the second from behind. A passenger in the first vehicle was ejected and both vehicles went off the right side of the roadway.

The driver of the second car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

MSHP said this passenger who was ejected from the car was seriously injured and was still on scene.

At that time he was involved in another accident.

While in the roadway, the passenger was struck by a semi traveling eastbound on the highway. 60, just minutes after the first collision occurred.

MHSP said the passenger, a Scott City man, later died at the scene.
