Crown suspends sex abuse charges against Waskesiu business owner

When a charge is stayed, the Crown has up to a year to bring it to trial, should new evidence emerge.

Attorneys Brian Pfefferle and Mark Brayford served as co-counsel for Graae.

“Sir. Graae is grateful to investigators that the Public Prosecution Service reviewed this case before proceeding with this prosecution. Mr. Graae cooperated fully with this investigation and provided definitive evidence of his innocence. The RCMP and the Public Prosecution Service made the right decision. He is innocent and a lengthy trial would have been a waste of resources,” Pfefferle said paNU.

At the time of the incident, RCMP were also executing a search warrant at a home in Waskesiu. Police found a small amount of cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia. As a result, the police also charged Graae with one count of human trafficking.

These charges will be dealt with early when Graae returns to court in Montreal Lake in early December.
