‘These threats are not jokes:’ 17-year-old accused of saying he would blow up Volusia school

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy arrested this week in Volusia County is accused of threatening to blow up his school, the sheriff’s office said.

The boy allegedly posted on Instagram that he was going to blow up Richard Milburn Academy, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, adding that the teen told police he was just joking.

“These threats are not jokes, and the criminal consequences are real,” the statement read.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 17-year-old is accused of making a written or electronic threat against a school.
