Grand Forks man expected to stand trial in January for alleged basketball court shooting – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks man is expected to stand trial in January for allegedly shooting someone non-fatally after an altercation that started during a basketball game at a local park.

Allen Jaborie Ticordiyae Little, 24, appeared for his final dispositional conference on Thursday afternoon, November 14, during which it was determined that he maintained his previous not guilty pleas and thus would have a status conference and jury trial on January 6. and January 7 respectively.

Little is charged with two Class C felonies: aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment demonstrating extreme indifference. These crimes carry maximum prison sentences of five years.

According to a Grand Forks Police Department news release and probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Little was playing basketball at the Abbott Sports Complex on May 25 when he and another man got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

The man was transported to the emergency room with a gunshot wound.

Video footage taken during the incident reportedly showed a physical altercation between the two men and Little lunging at the other man while holding a gun and hitting him with the weapon.

A shot is heard after the video pans away from the men, the statement said.

Witnesses reported Little grabbed a gun from his vehicle after the fight broke up, and one witness said they saw Little shoot the man.

Little admitted to police that he shot the man, but said he was not trying to kill him.
