Victim, suspects identified in Rutland shooting

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – One man is dead and two people are in custody after a shooting Friday evening in Rutland.

Video obtained by WCAX shows a ring security camera showing the victim — who police say is 32-year-old Christopher Hale — walking onto the porch of a home on Elm St. around 7 a.m. Friday and knocking on the door. door.

Hale waits and knocks again, without any indication that he is in danger. And then several gunshots, which seemed to come from the street.

The alleged shooter runs away in the background and Hale is dragged into the house

Police say Hale later died at the hospital.

Several people WCAX spoke to who did not want to be on camera who live in this neighborhood say it is a quiet area, and they are shocked that a shooting took place on this street.

“I walked two blocks away from Stewarts and came this way. We’re going to the transit station. I just heard the gunshots. I froze in place and just tried to listen to where they were coming from,” said Keith Porter of Rutland.

Police say they have arrested two people. Dylin Wainscott, 28, of Westfield, Massachusetts, is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a narcotic drug.

Precious Okorie, 38, of Springfield, MA, is charged with conspiracy and accessory before the fact.

Both suspects are being held without bail Monday pending arraignment.

The police say they believe it was a targeted incident and that there is no additional threat to the population.
