YouTube and Snapchat tutorials are fueling a disturbing trend – from Haryana students’ bomb prank to Baba Siddique’s shooters

Haryana News: A group of Class 12 students from a school in Haryana have been suspended after they allegedly set off a remote-controlled firecracker-like bomb under their female science teacher’s chair as part of a misguided prank.

The students, who reportedly learned how to make the explosive through YouTube tutorials, carried out the dangerous act that could have had serious consequences.

This shocking incident draws parallels with another worrying case in Mumbai where gunmen linked to the murder of politician Baba Siddique used mobile phones and social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram for communication. It was revealed that the accused shooters – Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap – also used YouTube videos to learn shooting techniques.

Both incidents highlight the disturbing trend of individuals using online platforms to learn dangerous skills, with serious consequences.

Bomb prank foiled: teacher escapes unharmed

The The incident occurred when the students, upset after being scolded by the teacher, decided to get back at her with a joke. One student placed a bomb-like firecracker under the teacher’s chair, while another detonated it with a remote control. Fortunately, the teacher narrowly escaped injury and the explosion caused no damage.

“If the teacher had been sitting it could have been catastrophic,” one source explained. “But fortunately she was not at her desk at the time of the explosion.”

Students turn to YouTube for a bomb-making tutorial

What makes this story even more alarming is that the students reportedly learned how to use the bomb from YouTube.

According to reports, the bomb resembled a typical firework and was detonated remotely, making the prank even more risky and premeditated.

“Learning how to make explosives online is not only reckless; it is incredibly dangerous,” said one education expert. “This joke could have easily gone wrong.”

Haryana School and education department take swift action

Reacting to the shocking prank, Haryana’s education department took immediate action and suspended the 13 students involved for a week.

District education officer Naresh Mehta confirmed the suspensions and said, “These children had learned all this from YouTube. If they had made and presented a model, we would have honored them, but now this matter has been dealt with with a warning.”

Haryana science teacher forgives students

While the students are being suspended, the teacher involved has shown remarkable leniency by forgiving the students.

According to reports, the teacher did not push for expulsion after the incident, despite the seriousness of the prank.

“There was discussion about deporting them,” Mehta said. “But the parents apologized and made a pledge that their children would not act like that again.”

A Haryana Panchayat discussion will follow

After the incident, a panchayat meeting was convened in the local village to discuss the actions of the students. During the meeting it was revealed that 13 of the 15 students in the class were aware of the prank and had directly participated in or encouraged it.

The YouTube bomb making craze has raised serious concerns among parents and education officials, highlighting the potential dangers of online tutoring.
