Woman in her 30s seriously sexually assaulted at bus stop as police launch manhunt for attacker

A WOMAN was seriously sexually assaulted at a bus stop in the early hours this morning – and a manhunt has been launched.

The victim, in her 30s, was walking when she was approached by a man who allegedly attacked her in Ipswich, police say.

A crime scene is currently in place on Nacton Road, near Clapgate Lane.

The incident took place at around 4am and Suffolk Police said the victim is being supported by specialist officers.

Police are looking for anyone who has relevant doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage from around the time of the attack.

Police described how the woman was “approached by a man who allegedly seriously sexually assaulted her”.

Detective Inspector Brett Harris said: “We understand the concerns this incident will raise, but we would like to reassure the public that we are investigating all lines of inquiry to ensure we find those responsible.

“There is a scene and the local community can expect an increased police presence in and around the area.

“I would encourage the public to approach our officers if they have any concerns.

“We are calling on anyone with information to contact police.

“Particularly if you were in the area at the time of the incident and saw something that looked suspicious, unusual or out of place.”
