Strictly Christmas’ Josh Widdicombe admits he’s ‘terrified’ of the show | Television and radio | Showbiz and TV

Comedian Josh Widdicombe gets ready for a festive spin on the dancefloor as he joins the roster for the loved one Come strictly dance Christmas special.

At the age of 41, the comedian, acclaimed for his performances in The Last Leg and Live At The Apollo, will become the first celebrity to take part in this year’s seasonal installment of the hit dance competition.

As he prepares for his debut, Widdicombe has been pouring his heart into rehearsals and couldn’t resist joking about his dancing talent, admitting: “I thought I would be terrible.”

On Saturday Kitchen, host Matt Tebbutt was keen to know more about Widdicombe’s progress, prompting a response from the contestant: “I’m doing well,” reports Wales Online.

In a candid confession, Widdicombe enthused: “I love it, I think. I don’t know. I thought I’d be terrible and I’m just bad.”

Adding a touch of humor to the conversation, guest chef Niklas Ekstedt cheekily asked, “Do they pay you for that?”

Widdicombe dodged the question and replied humorously: “On a TV programme, that has never been the follow-up question. ‘What is the breakdown of the finances for this tour that you are promoting?'”

Switching gears, the comedian revealed: “It’s really fun and my daughter is seven and she’s a big fan. I brought her to training to meet Karen and that was a lot of fun.”

Reflecting on his foray into the reality show, Widdicombe shared his concerns: “I’m terrified this will end in humiliation and I’m afraid I’ll be so bad that I’ll ruin Christmas for the nation. Why have I done this?”

Josh candidly shared that Strictly is currently consuming his life, noting: “It’s kind of overshadowing everything else in my life right now.”

Adding his trademark humour, he joked: “Yes, I agreed to do Christmas Strictly, and I’ll be honest, I now feel like I’m a dancer who does occasional comedy.”

He also discussed its impact on his personal interactions, saying, “It’s been pretty full-on, and I’ve had more messages from people in my life who have been more excited about that than the rest of my career combined.”

Together with the much-loved Karen Hauer, Josh is gearing up for the special The Strictly Christmas, which will wow viewers on Christmas Day.

He joins the first roster of celebrities announced for the show, including RuPaul’s Drag Race UK sensation Tayce teaming up with Kai Widdrington, and TV presenter Vogue Williams dancing with Carlos Gu.

Fans remain on edge as they look forward to the reveal of the full list of celebrities who will light up this year’s glitzy Christmas cast.

Come strictly dance continues Saturday and Sunday BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
