Ex-firefighter charged with fraud and theft over illegal credit card purchases

MANSFIELD, La. (KSLA) – A former Mansfield firefighter is accused of making more than $14,000 worth of illegal purchases at gas stations in Louisiana and Texas over a six-month period.

A Louisiana State Police investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Donald Anthony Jr. of Mansfield, on charges of access device fraud and identity theft. He turned himself in on Sunday morning (Nov. 17) and was booked into the DeSoto Parish Detention Center at 9:06 a.m.

In July, Mansfield Police contacted the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Bossier Field Office to investigate a stolen credit card belonging to the Mansfield Fire Department (MFD). The preliminary investigation revealed that the credit card had been used in more than 180 unauthorized transactions, according to Louisiana State Police.

Investigators learned that Anthony allegedly stole the credit card after he was fired from MFD in February.

Trooper Eddie Thomas said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
