Two officers charged with murder in east Kingston, triple homicide

Two police officers have been charged with murder, among other charges, in the fatal shooting of three men in east Kingston on Sunday.

Corporal Mark Roye and Officer Kelby White were charged on Sunday: Observer online understands.
Roye and White have each been charged with three counts of murder; the use of firearms in the commission of a crime; discharging a firearm within 40 meters of a public road, placing an object at the scene of a crime and deliberately lying to the police commissioner.

The Kingston Eastern officers, whose actions were investigated by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), have been in custody since last week.

Police reported that around 2:30 a.m., while on patrol, they encountered a group of men along Windward Road and during the encounter, gunfire was exchanged, resulting in the deaths of three men. One of the officers suffered a non-life-threatening injury and two illegal firearms were reportedly recovered at the scene.

It was also initially reported that the now deceased men were suspected of being involved in a robbery.
