A man has been arrested and charged with murder after human remains linked to a missing persons case were found in a Texas home.

Michael Dean Davis Jr., 27, was arrested on November 12 and charged in Laredo, Texas, in connection with the discovery of human remains found at a residence in Buffalo, Texas on October 22, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office said in a edition on Facebook.

An investigation into an adult and a child reported missing on June 19 led to the search, according to the news release. The adult and child were last seen by their family in July 2022.

“On November 12, Michael Dean Davis Jr. successfully apprehended in Laredo on murder charges and transported to Webb County Jail,” the sheriff’s office said.

The human remains were “positively identified” as being those of a 27-year-old woman named Mahogany Washington, who was the mother of Davis’ 8-year-old son and the adult reported missing, according to theLaredo Morning Times And KGNS.

Laredo police, U.S. Marshals and the Sheriff’s Office were tipped off that Davis was living with his missing son at a home near Cuatro Vientos in south Laredo, the Laredo Morning Times reported.

The boy was found unharmed at the time of Davis’ arrest and he was sent to child protective services, according to the newspaper.

“Multiple agencies worked together to coordinate the arrest of Davis and the safe recovery of a missing and endangered child,” Laredo police said in their statement.

“The investigation revealed that Davis was likely armed and posed a possible threat to his son. Due to the suspect’s violent tendencies and the potential threat to law enforcement and the surrounding neighborhood, an action plan was developed and implemented on November 12,” police said. Police discovered several guns, gas masks and an armor suit in the home where Davis and the boy were found, KGNS reported.

Davis received additional charges of child endangerment due to the poor condition of the home, according to the newspaper.

He is currently being held on a $3,000,000 bond, according to the release. The investigation is ongoing.

The Laredo Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
