Incident Sunday at Thomson Prison

THOMSON, Ill. (KWQC) – An incident occurred Sunday at the Federal Correctional Institution in Thomson, according to prison officials.

The jail says an incident occurred at the recreation yard around 2:55 p.m. The prison does not want to say what the nature of the incident is.

Staff followed procedure in responding to the incident to restore safety and order, but several individuals in custody failed to comply with their instructions, according to the prison.

Following this, Federal Bureau of Prisons employees used an audible deterrent to regain control of the situation and get those involved to comply, the prison said. The persons in custody then complied and the incident spread.

No injuries were reported and the population was never in danger.
