A Butts County man has been arrested for allegedly attacking officers with a machete

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Butts County man has been arrested for allegedly attacking officers with a machete, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Courtney Deonta Reeves, 30, of Jenkinsburg, was booked into the Butts County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault on law enforcement.

The GBI said it arrested Reeves after the Butts County Sheriff’s Office asked the agency to investigate an aggravated assault against two deputies Monday morning.

Around 9:20 a.m. Butts County deputies went to a home on County Line Road to serve an eviction notice on Reeves.

The GBI said Reeves allegedly grabbed a machete and began attacking the officers.

Two officers were injured and taken to hospital. Both deputies are in stable condition and are expected to be released.

The GBI said they will conduct an independent investigation and turn the file over to the Towaliga Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
