SIU secures a custody order for Mabe House, Porsche

Last month Mabe, his wife Elsie, four former senior officials of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, heads of departments Thandeka Mbassa and Matilda Gasela, former chief financial officer Abdullah Mohamed Ismail, chief director of sustainable use of the environment Loyiso Mkwana , and a former employee of KGP Media Holdings Tinyiko Mahuntsi, appeared before the Specialized Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge.

The state alleges that Enviro Mobi, a Mabe-linked company, was irregularly awarded a R72-million tender in 2017 for the supply of 200 motorized three-wheelers to support waste pickers in the Ekurhuleni metro.

On Monday, the SIU confirmed it had obtained a protective order from the Special Tribunal against Green Mintirho (formerly Enviro Mobi) in relation to alleged tender irregularities involving the Gauteng Agriculture Department and Ekurhuleni Metro.

“The order restricts Mabe from selling, leasing, transferring or otherwise dealing with specified assets, including a property located in Steyn City, Gauteng Province, and a luxury motor vehicle, Porsche 911 Carrera GTS,” said unit spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago. .

In addition to the Preservation Order, the SIU has filed a review application with the Special Tribunal to annul the award of the tender and recover amounts unlawfully paid to Groen Mintirho.

Mabe and his co-accused were each released on R30,000 bail and ordered to return to court in March next year.

The businessman denied the charges against him.
