Saskatoon’s fourteenth homicide happened early Sunday in Caswell Hill

In the 400 block of 26th Street West, Saskatoon police responded to a call about an injured man around 2:30 a.m.

A 37-year-old man later died in hospital from his injuries. Police believe the suspect, a 45-year-old man charged with manslaughter, and the victim knew each other.

This is Bridge City’s fourteenth homicide of 2024. In June, the city’s homicide rate was 11 percent higher than in 2023. The murder victims ranged in age from one year old to 66 years old.

On November 15 a woman was found dead for the Copper Mosquito, making it the first kill on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River this year.

The first murder of the year occurred Feb. 3 in the Pacific Heights neighborhood when a 25-year-old Alberta man was found dead in a home on Lisgar Avenue. Two people have been charged.

The the second was on February 10 when a 48-year-old man was shot dead in the Caswell Hill neighborhood of Saskatoon. One man was arrested.

On February 17, a 48-year-old man was killed at a home on Avenue I South after he was shot in the third homicide of the year. Two people have been arrested.

A man has been charged in the Feb. 19 stabbing death of a 35-year-old Saskatoon man in the city’s fourth homicide.

The fifth also happened the same day, when two boys, ages 12 and 13, were charged in the gun-related death of another 12-year-old boy in the Massey Place area.

A 1-year-old boy was the victim of the city’s sixth homicide in the 100 block of Avenue T South on March 9. A woman has been charged.

from Saskatoon The seventh murder occurred on April 15 when Melissa Duquette, 24, was found dead in the basement of a home in the Dundonald neighborhood. Two people have been charged.

Eighth murder, also on April 15, remains unsolved after 25-year-old man was shot in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood.

The next day, April 16, a 30-year-old man died in hospital after being injured on April 15. No one has been arrested.

On June 3, the cThe city’s tenth homicide was recorded in the 800 block of 22nd Street West when Glen Lennie, 29, was stabbed. Two people have been charged.

The The city’s eleventh murder occurred on June 12 when Harvey Zoerb, 66 years oldwas killed near Fairhaven Elementary School.

Two people were brought in Saskatoon’s 12th homicide of 2024 after 30-year-old Jordan Lee Morin was killed in Riversdale on Aug. 16.
