There was tension at Butlers Farm during tonight’s visit Emmerdaleas Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) had to deal with the prospect of her brain surgery the next day.

It was Moira diagnosed with a brain tumor after experiencing various symptoms, including mood swings, memory loss and seizures. She was told she would need surgery to remove the tumor, and after she postponed it because Cain (Jeff Hordley) had to do with the death of Zak (Steve Halliwell)the day of the procedure is almost here.

Since Moira was told she would have to have surgery, she has been realistic about the chance that something could go wrong during the operation. She is absolutely terrified of dying, or discovering afterwards that she is not the same person anymore.

Cain refused to face these possibilities, which meant Moira was more likely to confide in him Vanessa Bosveld (Michelle Hardwick) about what she would want to happen if she was unable to make her own decisions after the operation.

With surgery looming, she was determined to enjoy the day with her family and made a special lunch, picking up Kyle (Huey Quinn) and Isaac (Bobby Dunsmuir) from school so everyone could be together.

Before that, she talked to Cain about the surgery, saying that it would take hours and that she wanted him to go to work as usual to take his mind off things. She told him to be strong if something went wrong. “That won’t happen,” he insisted.

After Matty Barton (As Palmisciano) had taken the boys back to school, Moira reminded Cain that he knew where her will lay. Once again he refused to concern himself with the possibility of her dying. Moira told him he had to deal with the fact that she might die “just in case the worst happens.”

She wanted him to promise that he would take care of Kyle, Isaac, and the farm if she didn’t make it, and begged him, “Can you please do that for me?”

Cain had had enough and said he wouldn’t answer because it was her job and she would be here to do it. ‘End.’ He stormed out, leaving Moira in tears.

Later she went to have a look Chas (Lucy Pargeter), and told her that Cain had his head in the sand.

She told Chas that she was afraid of Cain and the boys, and through her tears she asked Chas to keep an eye on them when she wasn’t there because Chas is the only one Cain listens to. Chas agreed and the two women hugged.

Meanwhile, Cain was in the garage, but his thoughts were very far away from his work as he thought about his fears what might happen the next day.

Will Moira survive the operation?
