Two women shot and seriously injured in the parking lot of the Homewood apartment complex

An investigation is underway after two women were shot and seriously injured in Homewood.

The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Valley Ridge Drive, police said Tuesday evening. That location is the parking lot at the Valora at Homewood apartments.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found both women injured in a vehicle, Lt. John Carr said.

Investigation shows that the women were in the vehicle when an unknown suspect approached them and opened fire.

Both victims were taken to UAB Hospital with serious injuries, Carr said.

A motive has not been released and no arrests have been made.
