meerUT: A 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a 75-year-old sevadar (servant) of an ashram, gave birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Bulandshahr on Thursday, following which angry villagers tore down part of the ashram’s boundary wall .
On October 25, the sevadar was arrested for sexually abusing two girls, aged 12 and 13, after drugging them repeatedly for eight months. The investigating officer said the survivor gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday. He added that the ashram has been sealed since the incident came to light. “Some unidentified miscreants damaged parts of the border wall but the situation is now under control,” he added.
The circle official of the concerned area said, “Some parts of the ashram wall were found destroyed and were repaired on Monday. An investigation is underway.”
The girls were allegedly raped by the septuagenarian when they visited the ashram in their neighborhood to play. The issue came to light when it emerged that the 13-year-old was five months pregnant. Two separate FIRs were registered against the suspect on complaints from the parents of the survivors, who work as labourers, and he was subsequently arrested.
The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court guidelines on sexual assault-related cases
