Pedestrian killed in crash in Dover, police investigating

DOVER, Del. – Dover police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Tuesday evening.

Police say the incident happened in the area of ​​North DuPont Highway, just north of Leipsic Road, just after 7 p.m. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian, a 29-year-old woman, was crossing North DuPont Highway from the Raceway Liquors parking lot. The pedestrian was not at the crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing. A 2004 Nissan Titan driven by a 17-year-old male was traveling northbound in the left lane when it allegedly struck the pedestrian. The driver continued northbound for a while before pulling into a parking lot to contact his parents and meet police.

Police say no charges have been filed at this time, but the accident remains under investigation.
