First impressions

Great Hall. ERICA SILVERSTEIN/THE POINTS GUY

Disney Treasure’s Grand Hall is reminiscent of the palaces of Africa and Asia, with a not-so-secret nod to Disney’s “Aladdin.” The center carpet features a fountain motif and the elaborate chandelier pays tribute to the six current ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

The Great Hall is not only everyone’s first impression of the ship after embarkation, but is also the location for various performances, including live music and stories from new characters, Coriander and Sage. (They’ll even perform adult stories after hours.)

Plaza de Coco

Plaza de Coco is a Mexican-inspired restaurant based on the movie “Coco” and is the ship’s new addition to the included dining rotation. The space is warm and inviting with rich colors, and the hallway leading to the venue sets the tone for the meal to come, complete with family photos and an ofrenda.

The dining experience here includes live mariachi music and dancing by the characters from the ‘Coco’ movie, with two different shows as guests will eat here twice during a week-long sail. The first show has a family theme, while the second celebrates Dia de los Muertos.

Jumbeaux’s Sweets is a new ice cream parlor and candy shop, inspired by Jumbeaux’s Cafe from the movie ‘Zootopia’. You can order all kinds of ice cream, ice cream sundaes in souvenir packaging and many other delicacies.

While you’re here, keep an eye out for lemmings.

Disney Treasure Bars

Disney Treasure introduces a handful of new, immersive bars with fun Disney themes. Skipper Society is inspired by Disney’s Jungle Cruise ride and its funny skippers.

Expect lots of bad puns and jungle-themed drinks. As a snack, try the waffles sprinkled with nutella.

Periscope Pub

Periscope Pub takes its theme from Jules Verne’s “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” (and Disney’s 1954 film version of the book and theme park attraction).

The bar is where you can order craft beers, as well as pay-per-view pub food, like a burger or soft pretzel. Don’t forget to look up, because you never know what creatures might be swimming above your head.

The Haunted House Salon

The Haunted Mansion Parlor at Disney Treasure takes a seafaring approach to the spooky yet beloved Haunted Mansion theme park attraction.

The bar’s show, complete with a séance and a tale of a murder at sea, unfolds in five-minute increments over the course of an hour and a half. Families are welcome to enjoy the spooky atmosphere and fun soft drinks and mocktails until 9pm when the space is adults only.

Located just off the ship’s Grand Hall is the Scat Cat Lounge, inspired by Disney’s animated film “The Aristocats.”

It’s a chic place to enjoy jazz piano and cocktails served in cat-faced glasses. Signature drinks include tea-themed cocktails.

Other bars on board include the Hei Hei Cafe and the Jade Cricket Cafe.

Disney Treasure cabins

Disney Treasure will have 1,256 cabins and suites, ranging from windowless interior cabins to a two-story suite in the ship’s mock funnel. The cabin design includes scenes from Disney films such as ‘Aladdin’, ‘Pocahontas’, ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘Up’, ‘Luca’ and ‘Encanto’.

The Concierge Suites will feature nods to “The Lion King,” while the four Royal Suites pay tribute to the tigers from “The Jungle Book” and “Aladdin.”

The Royal Suites are incredible two-story suites with a living area downstairs and a sleeping area upstairs, plus a large balcony with an infinity hot tub.

The most extensive suite on the ship is the two-story Tomorrow Tower Suite. The nearly 2,000-square-foot multi-room suite features a futuristic design inspired by Epcot and can accommodate up to eight guests. Due to its location in the ship’s mock funnel, it does not have its own balcony.

Public areas

Pool deck and AquaMouse

Disney Treasure’s pool deck is not just a water playground, perfect for cooling off on hot days. It is also the space for Disney’s signature deck parties, including the Pirate Night shows with fireworks.

AquaMouse. ERICA SILVERSTEIN/THE POINTS GUY

AquaMouse water attraction returns to Disney Treasure with a third new show in the series of animated shorts. The animation is called “Curse of the Golden Egg” and follows Mickey and Minnie as they search for lost treasure in an ancient temple.

Toy Story Splash Zone. ERICA SILVERSTEIN/THE POINTS GUY

Kids in diapers will have a blast in the Toy Story-themed splash area; I’m sure some adults will be tempted to play here too.

Oceaneerclub. ERICA SILVERSTEIN/THE POINTS GUY

Disney’s Oceaneer Club is one of the most creative kids’ clubs in the cruise industry, and Disney Treasure’s complimentary youth facilities are no exception. Similar to Disney Wish, children (and adults) can enter the club via a slide from the Grand Hall.

Inside, a warren of cute themed rooms offers a range of programs, from an Imagineering Lab to Marvel Academy and Fairytale Hall. Children can design theme park attractions and try them out in a ride simulator, or design their own superhero suit.

Adults can enjoy the fun during open house hours; otherwise the Oceaneer Club is open to children only.

Parents can drop off babies and toddlers at It’s a Small World Nursery for supervised nap and playtime for an hourly fee.

Broadway style shows

Set of ‘Moana’. ERICA SILVERSTEIN/THE POINTS GUY

Disney Treasure debuts “Disney The Tale of Moana” as the new Broadway-style musical. We got a sneak peek at Act 1 and the sets, puppets, costumes and choreography are breathtaking. The cast is one of the most diverse Disney has ever had on a cruise ship, and Disney made sure to include cultural advisors of Hawaiian and Samoan descent in music and choreography choices.

The ship’s other shows are ‘Seas the Adventure’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

Disney Treasure departs on its maiden voyage on December 21 and will debut on alternating weeklong Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Families and cruisers of all ages will love this ship for its warm, welcoming décor and cleverly themed spaces.
