Semi driver seriously injured after crash in New Madrid County

NEW MADRID, Mo. (KFVS) – A Michigan man is seriously injured after a semi-vehicle crash in New Madrid County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:57 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20. The driver was on Interstate 55 southbound at the 62.6 mile marker.

The accident occurred when a 2014 Freightliner ran off the right side of the roadway before striking a bridge and a tree.

The driver of the Freightliner, a 63-year-old man from Fraser, Michigan, was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau to be treated for serious injuries.

According to the MSHP, the driver was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
