Marjorie Taylor Greene reportedly vowed to ‘fight’ trans women

Marjorie Taylor Green

Controversial Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has reportedly said she would “fight” against trans women trying to use the women’s restrooms in the U.S. Capitol.

According to Politico reporter Olivia Beavers, the comment was made during a private Republican conference. When later asked about the comments, Greene reportedly declined to confirm or deny them, but said she “didn’t have to do that”, adding: “It’s quite aggressive for biological males to invade our spaces urge.”

The unconfirmed comment comes from a resolution introduced on Monday (Nov. 18), aimed at banning trans lawmakers in the House of Congress from using “single-sex facilities other than those that correspond to their biological sex.”

The resolution’s author, Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace, said the measure directly targeted trans Delaware Democrat Sarah McBride.

“I am absolutely 100 percent going to stand in the way of any man who wants to be in a women’s restroom, in our locker rooms, in our locker rooms. I will be there to fight you every step of the way,” Mace said.

McBride made history on November 5 as the first trans person elected to Congressfollowing being the first trans woman elected to a Senate.

She labeled the resolution a “blatant attempt by right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing,” adding, “We must focus on reducing the costs of housing, health care and child protection. care, not manufacturing culture wars.”
