Makueni: Several students are injured after the school bus is involved in a horrific accident

What started as a peaceful commute for students took a tragic turn when the bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident near Kakima market in Mbooni sub-county. Makueni Province.

What caused the Makueni accident?

The accident occurred on Saturday evening, November 23, when the school bus lost control and overturned, trapping the students inside.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.keKenya Red Cross Senior Communications Officer Ahmed Munir confirmed that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and successfully rescued the students.

Munir further confirmed that there were no fatalities and only eleven students were injured in the incident.

“A rescue team was sent by the Makueni government. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, although 11 students suffered injuries,” Munir said.

The injured students were taken to Mbooni Referral Hospital where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

Bus carrying Kwale Girls high school students crashes

In a separate incident, at least three students from Kwale Girls Secondary School recovered from injuries after their bus crashed while returning from the Kenya National Music Festival in Eldoret.

The accident took place in Samburu. As Radio Kaya reported, the bus, which was also carrying teachers who had accompanied the students, overturned on Monday, August 12.

Photos from the scene showed it fallen over bus lying on the side of the road, with a man on its shattered windshield.

Despite the National Transport and Safety Authority’s continued efforts to improve road safety, the number of road accidents in the country has continued to rise.
