Woman charged in fatal shooting outside victim’s KC workplace

KANSAS CITY – A Kansas City woman has been charged in the fatal shooting in a parking lot outside the victim’s workplace in the Block 300 of East Linwood in Kansas City, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Kandi J Galaviz, 24, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to court documents, Galavis asked a man to drive her to 34-year-old Waleed M. Shaban’s workplace, where she shot him in the chest after an argument. One witness reported that during their argument she said, “Come to terms and do something.” Shortly afterwards, the witness heard gunshots.

Galaviz is in custody on a $250,000 bond
