Red paint ‘brothel’ attacks in city center ‘not linked’

Andrew Mitchell owns a flat in Stonegate House, Stone Street, where the first attack took place on September 27.

He said: ‘We don’t really know what these people are doing.

‘Whether they claim there is a brothel, or a ‘brothel’ as they call it.

“We investigated this and had the police go in and they claim they found nothing.”

Mr Mitchell, 67, bought his apartment when the complex was first built in 2006.

He said: “Over the last ten years we have had nothing but vandalism. It seems we cannot make any progress on this. It has only deteriorated, it has been degraded.”

The retired engineer, who now rents out his property, said he found it hard to believe there was no connection.

He added: “It’s strange, isn’t it? ‘Borthel’ – brothel misspelled, and you look at the letters in both incidents and it looks very similar.

‘I mean, two incidents where red paint was thrown and the word ‘borthel’ was used. Not connected? There must be something that isn’t there, right?’
