An employee who briefly fell asleep in his office was subsequently fired. In retaliation, he retaliated, costing the company a hefty compensation of Rs 40 lakh. This incident has gone viral on social media and has sparked many reactions.

According to the South China Morning Post, the incident involved a man named Zhang from Jiangsu province in China. Zhang worked as a manager at a department store and had twenty years of service.

Earlier this year, the store’s camera caught Zhang sleeping at midnight. The HR department terminated his employment, citing sleeping at the workplace due to fatigue and violation of company discipline.

Zhang was dissatisfied with the dismissal and went to court. When passing sentence, the judge said: “Sleeping on the job was a first offense and the company did not suffer any serious damage as a result.” The judge further added that an employee with twenty years of service cannot be dismissed. for this reason, the court ordered the company to compensate Zhang with Rs 40 lakh.
