Telangana Irrigation AE in ACB net for accepting bribe

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught Vomkaram Narsinga Rao, 55, an assistant engineer at the Irrigation Sub-Division office in Peddapalli district, red-handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a complainant for showing a public official favor.

Rao was caught near the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police Peddapalli while allegedly accepting bribe to record in MB related to contract work done by the complainant and forward the same along with related file to the Executive Engineer, Irrigation, at Peddapalli. through the Deputy Engineer for sanction of payment.

The tainted bribe amount of Rs.20,000 was recovered from Rao’s property. The fingers of both Rao’s hands returned positive in the chemical test. The ACB officials produced Rao before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.
