Mount Vernon wins Salem Bowl tournament; Salem second

The Salem Wildcat Bowlers finished second in the Salem Bowl Tournament at Mt Vernon on Saturday. Salem led heading into the final game, but a great 1200 game from the Rams pushed them to the title. Herrin placed 3rd with Centralia 4th, followed by Marion, Belleville West, Herrin JV and Mater Dei. Ryan Detering was the 2nd high run for the varsity at 1292. Nicholi Mahranka had the 2nd high run 1196 and the 2nd high run for JV 247. Mt Vernon’s Brody Elliott won the individual title with teammate Travin Elliott in third. Ryan Detering placed 2nd with teammate Keaton Gullion 5th overall, Rhett Detering placed 6th and Silas Moats 9th.

Salem grad and Missouri Baptist bowler Charlie Hunter bowled this weekend at the NAIA Invitational Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. Hunter averaged over 228 during individual scoring, just enough to capture his first collegiate All-Tournament Team.
