A man was thrown from the field and seriously injured. A child was also injured after a car crashed into a tree and several people fled in Mundelein, police said.

Mundelein Police and the Mundelein Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Bonniebrook Avenue on Friday around 10:52 p.m.

Mundelein Police Chief Jason Seeley said officers received reports of a car crash in which a vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and ejected an occupant.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl injured.

The 20-year-old man, who was thrown from the car, suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Seeley said.

The young woman suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Both victims were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.

Seeley said the officers learned that the driver of the vehicle involved and two passengers fled before police arrived.

The immediate area was searched, but none of the suspects were found.

A preliminary investigation revealed the identities of the driver and the other two passengers. Seeley said.

Officers were able to locate the two passengers, both juveniles, and determined they had no injuries.

The two youths were able to provide additional details about the crash and verify that the driver was the only person missing. Seeley said.

The driver, identified as Miguel A. Dominguez, 19, of Mundelein, was located during an unrelated 911 call to police.

He was unharmed and was arrested. Dominguez was charged with failure to report an accident involving injury, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, driving with a suspended license, failure to slow down to avoid an accident, failure to report damage to an unattended person. vehicle and improper overtaking or deviating from the lane.

Dominguez was also charged with a felony. Police responded to the scene where they found him after the crash.

Dominguez was transported to the Lake County Courthouse for a First Appearance Court hearing and remanded to the Lake County Jail.
