Four tight ends Denver Broncos should strongly consider entering the 2025 NFL Draft

The Denver Broncos are still in the thick of the playoffs in 2024, but the team has a clear need at the tight end position.

After waiving former third-round pick Greg Dulcichthe team will continue this season with Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins. That will have to work, but in 2025 an upgrade will be at the top of the wish list.

Once the offseason arrives, the team will have to decide whether to turn to free agency for a solution, find a prospect in the draft or go both routes. The 2025 NFL Draft has several intriguing prospects and here we will highlight four of these players so you can keep an eye on them and become more familiar with them.

Perhaps one of these players will be the team’s answer to its tight end woes. So far this season, the Broncos have had just 30 receptions from the tight end position, which translates to about 2.6 catches per game. Imagine how much better this team would be with a tight end who could stretch the field.

2025 NFL Draft makes tight end for Broncos to consider

Colston Loveland, Mich

Colston Loveland was the top tight end prospect in the country entering the season. Some analysts see other guys ahead of him now, but he’s as good an option as you’ll find coming into the NFL.

He’s been consistent for a Michigan team that has gone from winning the national title to one that’s barely bowling eligible and he’s still put up solid numbers, catching 56 passes for 582 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

Loveland’s combination of size and athleticism will be hard for teams to overlook. He is a sound blocker and also a smart football player. He would be a great fit in Payton’s offense.

Harold Fannin Jr., Bowling Green

Harold Fannin is a little smaller than Loveland and he plays at a much less successful school, but he is the No. 1 tight end on some analysts’ draft boards.

He has been the focal point of the offense for the Falcons and he is putting up huge numbers. His 92 receptions this season currently rank second in the nation and his 1,295 yards lead the nation. Those are impressive numbers for a tight end, and they could consider Fannin in the first round.

Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt

Perhaps the most intriguing player on this list, Eli Showers is quick off the line and can threaten a defense down the field as well as many wide receivers. He has put up mediocre numbers so far this season after transferring to Vanderbilt, but his intangibles and high potential ceiling make him a name to keep an eye on.

His lack of size will be questioned by teams, but he will pique the interest of others with a 40-yard dash time that could approach 4.5 seconds.

Gunnar Helm, Texas

Gunnar Helm is a prototypical tight end who has gone from a primary blocking tight end to a regular part of the Texas offense. He has five touchdown receptions this season and is really starting to show some promise at the professional level.

Helm will need some refinement between now and his time on the NFL field, but he is a coachable player with a great work ethic. Being selected by the Broncos would also be a homecoming for him as he was born in Englewood, Colorado and played at Cherry Creek High School.
