New Delhi:

A gruesome incident of double murder-suicide has emerged from Haridwar in Uttarakhand. A 60-year-old man allegedly shot himself in the head after killing his wife and mother-in-law, police say based on initial investigation. Police found a gun believed to have been used for shooting and a baseball bat. The investigation is ongoing.

The man has been identified as Rajiv Arora, who came to Haridwar from Delhi with his wife Sunita Arora on Sunday.

Police arrived on scene Monday afternoon after receiving a call from tenants complaining of shots fired.

“The house was locked from the inside. We broke the door and found three dead bodies. The incident takes place in Haridwar town of Ranipur,” said Parmendra Dobhal, Superintendent of Police (SSP), Haridwar.

At first glance, Mr. Arora attacked his wife with a baseball bat and then killed his mother-in-law by shooting her in the head. After this, he died by suicide, police said.

Police suspect there was a domestic dispute, but the reasons behind the murder and death by suicide are not yet clear.

The police investigate the case from all angles and interrogate the relatives to determine the cause of the murders.
