Three men indicted, accused of climbing the AT&T building

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Nashville police arrested three out-of-state men Sunday afternoon after they allegedly climbed to the top of the AT&T Building, Tennessee’s tallest building.

Someone saw the three in the building around 4:40 p.m. and called 911.

Officers from the Central Precinct responded and used binoculars. They saw a man next to a spire of the building and another man lying on the circular AT&T logo.

Officers entered the building and made their way to the top of the building, but neither officers nor a helicopter crew found anyone there.

Police conducted a floor-to-floor search and found the three out of 24e floor together in a locked bathroom stall around 6:30 p.m

The officer ordered them at gunpoint to show their hands under the stall door and police said the three complied and were subsequently taken into custody.

The police have arrested the following men:

  • 26-year-old Jacob Thomas Cieszynski from Chicago
  • 26-year-old Chase Cooper Lester from Culloden, Georgia
  • 20-year-old Ryan James McGarrity from Laguna Woods, California

According to police, the three said they were able to reach the top after entering through what they believed was an unsecured door.

Officers confiscated many cameras from them, including a GoPro.

One of the men told officers they heard the AT&T building was the best place to see Nashville, so they went inside and climbed to the roof.

The three men are now charged with aggravated trespass and disorderly conduct.

Police said Lester was also charged with possession of burglary tools after a crowbar and screwdriver were found in his backpack.
