Former coach says UNC basketball goalie AJ Dybantsa will end up at BYU

North Carolina has just two commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, which yields two four-star prospects. Because it’s such an important class for Hubertus Davisthe head coach must find a way to bring in some more talent.

The Tar Heels still have a few targets on their recruiting board, including a top player AJ Dybantsa. The Tar Heels have been in the hunt for the No. 1 overall pick for a while now, but it’s been difficult to gain insight into his recruitment. However, a former head coach and current ESPN analyst would be “shocked” if the recruit didn’t land on a surprise program.

Josh Pastner said he would be “shocked” if Dybantsa didn’t attend BYU during a segment on ESPN:

Dybantsa plays for Utah Prep and is transferring there to complete his high school career. When that happened, BYU became a strong favorite to land him, which has been the case ever since.

Now UNC is locked in the race and in a good position to at least pull off an upset and possibly land him. But they do have a lot of work to do moving forward and landing Dybantsa would be a huge boost for this class.
