Nairobi: Woman reportedly pours acid on three police officers chasing a thief

  • Three police officers were rushed to Nairobi West Hospital after a woman allegedly sprayed them with sulfuric acid
  • The trio pursued a suspect believed to have transported stolen medicines from Nairobi CBD to Ngara Health Centre

Nairobi – Three police officers are being treated at the Nairobi West Hospital after a violent encounter with suspected criminals in Ngara during an operation on Monday, November 25 to arrest a suspected thief.

The officers, Tom Mbuku, Moses Lelei and Joyce Otieno, chased a suspect suspected of stealing medicines from Nairobi CBD and took him to Ngara Medical Center.

Who attacked officers during the Ngara operation?

During the operation, a woman identified as Mororoi, 45, allegedly attacked the officers with a chemical believed to be acid, causing burns to their faces and limbs.

“Five liters of suspected sulfuric acid and various drugs were recovered and retained as evidence,” reads a police report seen by Citizen Digital.

The suspect reportedly fled into a facility and locked the door to evade arrest, preventing officers from gaining entry.

A backup team sent to the scene arrested four persons at the facility, identified as Mwaura Karumba, 60; Beatrice Kamba, 36; Faith Mboga, 22; and Rose Gitau, 46.

As the investigation continues, it is unclear whether the main suspect was among those arrested.

Suspect in murder of Eastleigh man arrested

In other news, DCI Detectives arrested a 27-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of Abdirahim Abdullahi in the Eastleigh area.

The officers were to investigate whether the suspect had links to a three-man gang accused of killing DCI officer David Mayaka in Kayole’s Mihang’o area.
