Father of missing Hawaiian woman Hannah Kobayashi was found dead of apparent suicide, says LAPD – Press Enterprise

LOS ANGELES — The father of a 31-year-old woman who disappeared was found dead after landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday.

Ryan Kobayashi, father of Hannah Kobayashi, recently traveled to Los Angeles to help search for his missing daughter. Around 4 a.m. Sunday, the 58-year-old man died after jumping from a parking garage near LAX. Police believe it was a suicide, police said. news items.

The medical examiner confirmed the father’s death but did not officially specify the cause.

The daughter traveled from Maui to New York City to visit family on November 8 and missed her connecting flight at LAX. Apparently, she traveled to The Grove shopping center on November 10, where she attended a Nike event – a photo of which she posted to her Instagram page.

Her family says she returned to LAX on November 11, but apparently did not board a flight. That day, the family started receiving strange text messages from her.

“Hannah’s last message to us was alarming. She said she was scared and that someone might try to steal her money and identity,” the family said. “She has not been heard from since and we are seriously concerned for her safety.”

The missing woman’s aunt, Larie Pidgeon, told USA Today that the messages the family received from her were unusual, including “weird things, calling us sweetie, things that weren’t quite the normal way she talks.”

Family members recently said they had obtained surveillance footage that captured her near the downtown subway station near Crypto.com Arena, although it was unclear exactly when that footage was taken. The family indicated that based on the images, “it is clear that Hannah does not appear to be in good condition, and that she is not alone.”

A vigil for her was held in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, and the search for her is still ongoing.
