Bhadohi:

A special POCSO court on Tuesday sentenced a person to 20 years in jail for raping a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl.

Additional District Judge (POCSO) Madhu Dogra on Tuesday found Satish Rajbhar alias Chhotu guilty of the crime and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him, Special Public Prosecutor Ashwini Kumar Mishra (POCSO) said.

The court ruled that the entire amount recovered from the fine should be given to the parents of the mentally challenged girl.

If the convict does not pay the fine, he must spend another five years in prison.

Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan said when the mentally challenged girl’s family could not find her at home on March 8, they started looking for her. Then some women told them that they had seen the girl with Satish Rajbhar around 5 p.m.

Katyayan said the girl was found naked in a field during the search and there were teeth wounds on her hands and feet.

The girl told her family about her ordeal through gestures. The same evening, a case was registered against the suspect under sections of the IPC and POCSO Act and the suspect was sent to jail.
