Firefighters rushed to tackle vehicle fires near Oswestry

The dangerous incident happened on the A5, nearby Oswestry, around 3.40 pm when a car was on fire on the A5, which crews extinguished using a foam hose reel jet.

One lane closed due to hazards including smoke on the roadway.

A statement of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: “At 3.41pm on Tuesday 26 November 2024, SFRS fire control received a call reporting a fire classified as a car fire in Oswestry.

“Two fire engines were mobilized Ellesmere and Oswestry. Crews used the following equipment to fight the fire: Hosereel jet. Also at the scene of the incident were: The police.

“Car on fire on the A5, which was extinguished by crew using a foam hose reel. One lane closed due to hazards including smoke on the carriageway.”
