Columbus police have identified the man who was fatally shot, which they believe was the result of a dispute in Weinland Park, and asked for the public’s help in identifying the shooter.

Anthony Wise, 20, was found with a gunshot wound Monday evening just before 8:30 p.m. by officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of North 4th Street, city homicide detectives said in a news release.

Columbus Division of Fire medics took Wise in life-threatening condition to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m., police said.

According to Columbus Police homicide detectives, Wise was gathered with a group of friends at the Weinland Park shelter when one of the men in the group pulled out a gun and started shooting, striking Wise. Detectives said they believe the shooting may have resulted from an “ongoing dispute” between Wise and a group of unknown people.

Witnesses and the shooter fled into the surrounding neighborhood in Weinland Park, investigators said.

The suspect is described as a 20-year-old black man wearing a sled, a gray hooded jacket and jeans.

Police are asking anyone with cameras in the Weinland Park neighborhood to review their video footage. Video can be uploaded to https://ColumbusPDOH.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/240878042.
