BJP MLAs organized a walk out on Wednesday West Bengal The meeting protested that they were not allowed to read out the contents of a motion on the protection of women and children in the state.

Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected the motion moved by BJP members Tapasi Mondal and others on protection of children and women in the state but allowed it to be read out.

However, when BJP MLA Tapasi Mondal read out some portions that were not allowed, the Speaker said these will not be made public.

After the walk, BJP chief in the House Shankar Ghosh told reporters outside the Assembly that the Speaker had given permission to read an edited version of the motion in the House.

Ghosh claimed that Tapasi Mondal’s microphone was switched off when she read out the motion and said the BJP MLAs had staged the strike in protest.
