STILFONTEIN, NW – Police and Social Development are investigating cases of human trafficking and slave labor in the Northwest.

This comes after a group of teenagers emerged from an abandoned mine shaft in Stilfontein. The police even say that 96 of the more than a thousand who came out are younger than 18 years old.

The teenagers claim they were forced underground and made to work by heavily armed men. Efforts are underway with SADC partners to locate and provide support to their families.
