PHOENIX (AZFamily) – An eight-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a statue appeared to fall on him at a luxury Phoenix resort Wednesday morning.

Phoenix firefighters were called around 9 a.m. to reports of an injured child at the nearby Arizona Biltmore resort 24th Street and Camelback Road.

The Phoenix Fire Department is still trying to determine what caused the statue to fall on the child.

Emergency services arrived and took the child to hospital in extremely critical condition. It is unclear if they were with a parent or guardian at the time of the incident.

Aerial footage showed tape around part of the hotel, while debris was strewn across the lawn of a resort.

The fire department is expected to provide additional information later on Wednesday.
