Yakima police investigation leads to arrest in child pornography case

TOPPENISH, Wash. – A Toppenish man was arrested and appeared in court Wednesday, where he faced multiple criminal charges related to the possession and trafficking of child pornography.

In March, Yakima police received a tip about an email account that Yahoo had flagged as sexually explicit material.

A YPD detective investigated and identified the suspect’s address as being in a trailer park in Yakima.

In April, the detective obtained a search warrant for information from Yahoo and US Cellular.

In May, another cyber tip was received about the same suspect containing 36 emails containing files flagged by Yahoo for sexually explicit reasons.

In November, YPD detectives obtained a signed search warrant for the suspect, who had moved to Toppenish, and his electronic devices.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and admitted receiving and trading child sexual abuse material.
